THE WORLD'S LARGEST RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION FACILITY USING FUEL CELLS:

Beacon Falls Energy Park, when completed, will be the world's largest fuel cell energy park, producing 63.3 megawatts of electricity - enough to power more than 60,000 Connecticut homes.  Fuel cells are classified as a Class I renewable resource in Connecticut.

CLEAN and RELIABLE: Fuel cells generate reliable power with near-zero pollutants (avoiding nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide which contribute to smog, acid rain, and particulates that can aggravate asthma) through a highly efficient and economical process.  Unlike solar or wind, energy from fuel cells is generated and delivered regardless of the time of day or weather. Accordingly, the project will support Connecticut's clean energy goals and improve stability of the grid.

POSITIVE ECONOMIC BENEFITS TO CONNECTICUT AND BEACON FALLS

JOBS FOR CONNECTICUT COMPANIES AND TAX REVENUE:

JOBS FOR CONNECTICUT COMPANIES:  The project will support manufacturing and construction jobs in Connecticut as it is built.

The fuel cells to be used in the project will be manufactured by FuelCell Energy, a Connecticut company based in Danbury and Torrington. FuelCell Energy employs 500 people in Connecticut.  O&G Industries, a Connecticut based construction and general service company with extensive experience in developing and constructing large scale power plants, will build the facility. O&G employs 1,000 people throughout Connecticut.

TAX REVENUE FOR CONNECTICUT AND BEACON FALLS: The project has the potential to generate millions of dollars of tax revenue over its life from sales tax to the State of Connecticut and property tax payments to the Town of Beacon Falls.
